ORDNANCE SURVEY NORTHERN IRELAND ANNOUNCE NEW CEO
The new Chief Executive Officer for Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland (OSNI®) is Mr Iain Greenway. Iain joined OSNI on 4th July 2006.
Between 2000 and 2006, Iain was a General Manager of Ordnance Survey Ireland, with responsibility for the management of the organisation’s operational activity and its mapping technology.
Iain, a native of Warwickshire, graduated with an M.A. in Engineering from Cambridge University and an M.Sc. in Land Survey from University College London and joined the Ordnance Survey of Great Britain in 1986. A variety of technical survey posts followed, including short-term consultancies supporting land reform in eastern Europe. After completing an MBA at Cranfield University, that included a term studying at Macquarie University, Sydney, he re-joined Ordnance Survey of Great Britain in 1995, undertaking roles in strategic planning and pricing, sales and marketing, as well as completing a number of management visits to Swaziland and Lesotho. He subsequently undertook a secondment to Her Majesty’s Treasury, working in the Secretariat to the Public Services Productivity Panel (PSPP).
Iain is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), a Fellow of the Irish Institution of Surveying (FIS) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM). He is the head of the RICS delegation to the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), and Chair of the FIG Standards Network. He is also a member of the Management and Editorial Boards of the learned journal Survey Review.
Iain is married with two children and lives in Bangor, Co Down.
