GEODIRECTORY
What is it?
The GeoDirectory is a geo-referenced relational database of over 1.5 million buildings in the Republic of Ireland. This represents over 95% of all buildings in the country.
The Ordnance Survey and An Post, have jointly produced the GeoDirectory, which is the biggest infrastructural development in database management since the creation of the original mailing list. It provides a standardised, accurate database containing the precise geographic location (X, Y coordinates) and the exact postal address for every home and business in Ireland. The result is that every database and mailing list in the country can be built on or corrected to pinpoint accuracy with GeoDirectory references.
GAMMA has combined the Geodirectory with their unique Address-Link Geocoding software allowing professionals dealing with addresses or locations to validate standardise, and geocode their data. This will facilitate a much easier integration of customer data, improved routing analysis and advanced direct market targeting. The database is being distributed by GAMMA in its hosted web-based mapping solutions.
What is it used for?
