What’s it used for?
The Census for Ireland represents a huge opportunity for any professional involved in planning, marketing or in strategy formulation to analyse the demographic and socio-economic landscape. Only the census can provide such complete statistical detail and at the level of Small Area Population Statistics (SAPs).
GAMMA uses the Census data to produce maps and analysis showing patterns of population change and socio-economic diversities. The Census can be used to identify market opportunities such as (where are there new neighbourhoods being built). Or for planning service provision (e.g. where are there older people requiring health services). Whenever, demographic information is needed the Census of Population is a invaluable resource for your organisation.

What is it?
The Census of Agriculture provides detailed and comprehensive information on both the extent and structure of Irish Agriculture. The census provides coverage of farming activities including: land utilisation, livestock numbers, farm labour force and the utilisation of farm machinery.

The Census of Agriculture is available at Electoral District (ED) level, although some rounding may be necessary to protect confidentiality in remote areas. The Republic of Ireland is covered by approximately 3,500 EDs.
Examples of data held within the census of agriculture:
- Area Farmed 2001

What’s it used for?
The Census of Agriculture is used where the spatial analysis requires a rural dimension. It adds detailed levels of information on agricultural practices and patterns not included in the Census of Population. Socio-economic and demographic trends occurring in farming communities can be analysed. Used in conjunction with Census of Population, a complete socio-economic landscape of Ireland can be created and analysed.
